We’ve all seen the “red flag” lists floating around, but what about the good stuff? Here are some green flags that show you’re in the hands of a solid, trustworthy artist:

• Stencil patience – They’ll move your stencil as many times as it takes to get the placement perfect.

• No jewelry or watches while tattooing – Those things are bacteria traps, and a clean artist knows better.

• Clear aftercare instructions – Because how you heal your tattoo is just as important as how it’s applied.

• Free touch-ups (when needed) – If a tattoo didn’t heal right due to the application, a good artist will fix it at no extra charge.

These are non-negotiables in my studio, and they’re what you should look for anywhere you get tattooed.
